I began my weight loss journey/lifestyle change in October 2013 when my scale topped out at 340 pounds and I absolutely refused to buy a new wardrobe! I started eating smaller portions and moving more, which led to an almost immediate 20-25 pound weight loss. I then joined Weight Watchers in February 2014, and proceeded to lose over 100 pounds in a year with consistency and exercise.
After I lost my job in the summer of 2015, I decided to quit WW since I felt like I could no longer sustain my workout routine at the time on a mere 1,500 calories per day. I had dropped nearly 160 pounds by this point in my journey, and my body was beginning to fight back after such a dramatic weight loss. I continued for the next 2-3 months with a more flexible dieting or IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) approach, but since I was pretty restrictive with my diet, binge episodes began to occur.
It wasn’t until December 2015 that I learned about Avatar Nutrition through Dr. Layne Norton and one of his Podcasts, that my relationship with food and nutritional balance was all wrong. I got rid of the “good food, bad food” mentality and began to truly experience flexible dieting for real. Once I took total control of the binges by utilizing balance in my diet, things began to turn around…for good!
I am happy to report that I am binge free and happier/healthier than ever before!
