A while back, I asked my Instagram followers to submit some of their favorite foods that they felt they couldn’t eat, simply because they were not macro friendly enough for them. One of the requests I received was for biscuits & gravy, which I gladly took to the drawing board to come up with a more versatile option. The result? A deliciously simple gravy recipe perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dinner!
🔸1 cup (114g) turkey sausage crumbles
🔸8oz FF milk (I like Fairlife for the extra protein)
🔸1/2 to 1 packet of instant coffee crystals
🔸2g xanthan gum
🔸salt & pepper to taste
- Heat sausage in a skillet, then pour milk and seasonings, and stir until it begins to boil.
- Add in coffee crystals and xanthan gum and continue stirring until it thickens, then remove from heat (xanthan gum takes longer to thicken than flour, so don’t add in more thinking it’ll be better).
